An Enicar Super Jet GMT With Unique Provenance
By Charlie Dunne
A few months back, I caught up with Wes Wynne (founder of Collectors Corner NY) to chat about some of the timepieces he was looking into for both his personal collection, as well as his clients. Sharing an mutual enthusiasm for JLCs, we spoke about some of the modern dress references which he was fond of. The conversation would transition into alarm watches and dual crowned models, at which point he informed me of an interesting Enicar he had just sourced. Wynne would share a Super Jet which had been featured in the first edition acknowledgement section of Martijn van der Ven’s preeminent book ‘Enicar: Time For A Change’. It was at that point that I inquired if I could write about the timepiece for Collectors Corner NY.
Speaking with the aforementioned collector/author, van der Ven would give context to the Jet models. “To compare the dial and hand variations within Sherpa Jets and Super Jets, there is MORE variety found in the later model (24 hrs bezels variations, black dial, albino, rally dial). In addition, the “albino” Sherpa Jets are more common than the handful of examples known in Super Jets.”
